Hornfair Park

Hornfair Park sits in the Charlton quarter of the Royal Borough of Greenwich and takes its name from the public open space at its heart. The area is a mix of terraces, low-rise council housing and newer infill developments clustered around Hornfair Park itself. The park contains a children’s playground, a rectangular grass pitch used by local youth teams and a community garden next to a small pavilion. Local shops and a parade of takeaways and grocers line the nearby streets, and a primary school and community centre use the park for outdoor lessons and events.

Transport links are largely local: several bus routes run along the main roads, connecting to Woolwich, Greenwich and beyond, while Charlton town centre is a short walk away. The neighbourhood’s street pattern includes pedestrian walkways that drop down into the park, concentrating foot traffic through a narrow tree-lined corridor that separates the green from the housing estate. That corridor is where many residents walk dogs, meet neighbours or cut across to the shops.
