About

Kearsney sits northwest of Dover along the banks of the River Dour. The river threads a ribbon of parkland through the settlement, with Kearsney Abbey Gardens occupying a long bend where paths, ponds and small cascades follow the watercourse. Kearsney railway station is close to the river and provides regular trains toward Dover and beyond, so the railway and the Dour sit cheek by jowl in a compact stretch of town and green space. Footpaths run beside the water and over small footbridges, and remnants of former mill sites appear in places where channels narrow or drop.

Whitfield lies to the north and west of Kearsney and has a mix of housing, shops and business parks that grew around a network of lanes. The River Dour corridor gives a continuous green link through both communities, while local routes cross fields and estate roads toward surrounding villages. Community halls, primary schools and sports pitches serve residents, and the everyday scale of streets and paths makes the area one people use for short walks and commutes as well as for local errands.
