About

Kells ward lies within the rural landscape of Mid and East Antrim, situated southwest of Ballymena. The area encompasses several small settlements and is dominated by agricultural land and low hills. The Glenwherry River flows through the ward, shaping much of its topography. This is a primarily residential and farming community, with local life centred around its villages.

A notable landmark is the historic Kells & Connor Old Church and its round tower, a remnant of early Christian settlement. The surrounding townlands contain a mix of family farms and newer housing developments. The ward's boundaries extend to include the rural edges approaching the Braid Valley.
