Kennington West & Vauxhall North is a Thames-side district defined by a mix of dense residential development and major transport infrastructure. The area is anchored by the Vauxhall transport interchange, a major hub for rail and bus services, and is characterised by clusters of modern apartment towers rising alongside converted industrial buildings. The residential streets, particularly around Kennington Lane, feature a more traditional London streetscape of Victorian terraces and converted mansion blocks.

The linear Kennington Park provides significant green space along its southern edge. The area's history is marked by the presence of the former Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, with the current Spring Gardens park offering a quieter, modern green link towards the river.
