Kilwaughter

Kilwaughter ward encompasses a largely rural landscape on the outskirts of Larne, characterised by rolling farmland and scattered residential settlements. The area is defined by the Kilwaughter River and its valley, with agricultural activity forming a central part of the local environment. The ward includes the smaller communities of Ballyboley and Ballycraigy, which contribute to its dispersed population pattern.

A notable landmark within the ward is the substantial, ruined shell of Kilwaughter Castle, a 19th-century castellated mansion situated on an older estate. The geography is also marked by the presence of Sallagh Braes, part of the Antrim Hills, which influence the terrain. This area provides a quieter, green setting adjacent to the more urban centre of Larne.
