About

Leafield, Minster Lovell and Ducklington form a stretch of villages in West Oxfordshire set between the lower Cotswold slopes and the Windrush valley. Leafield sits on higher ground near the edge of the old Wychwood area and has a parish church and dispersed settlement pattern. Minster Lovell lies on the River Windrush; the moated ruins of Minster Lovell Hall and the standing dovecote sit beside the river close to the village church of St Kenelm. Ducklington is immediately west of Witney and also crosses the Windrush, with a village green and a parish church at its centre.
The area is crossed by public footpaths and bridleways that link farmland, small woodlands and commons; routes follow field boundaries and the river course. Farming and small-scale local services shape land use, while village halls, a few local shops and public houses act as meeting points. Seasonal events and river-side activities bring residents together, and the three parishes share community groups and schools in the Witney area for broader services.
