The Leek East & Upper Hulme area encompasses the eastern outskirts of the historic market town, extending into the elevated moorland fringe of the Staffordshire Moorlands. The terrain rises towards the gritstone edges of the Roaches, a distinctive and rugged escarpment that defines the western edge of the Peak District. Upper Hulme itself is a small, scattered settlement situated at the foot of the Roaches, with a landscape shaped by former quarrying and reservoirs. The area is characterised by stone-built dwellings and drystone walls, with walking routes like the Staffordshire Way providing direct access to the dramatic rock formations and upland vistas. It is a gateway to expansive moorland, with Tittesworth Reservoir a significant local feature for water management and recreation.
