Little Thurrock South

Little Thurrock South sits in the borough of Thurrock, Essex, on the north bank of the River Thames, immediately west of Grays town centre. The area is mainly residential with terraces and post-war housing lining a grid of local streets, interspersed with small shops and primary schools. Road access links into the A13 corridor and rail links are provided via Grays station on the Tilbury Loop (c2c services), which commuters use for journeys toward London and along the estuary. Pockets of open ground and allotments remain between housing estates and older field boundaries.

The landscape still shows its marshland past in drainage ditches, embanked river edges and stretches of mudflat visible at low tide along the Thames. Local walks follow footpaths beside the sea wall and through small reed beds where drainage channels cut toward the river. Community facilities include a civic hall and sports pitches used by local clubs, and the neighbourhood is served by the borough’s routine services and primary-level schooling rather than major tourist attractions.
