Lothingland

Lothingland ward forms the northernmost part of Great Yarmouth, situated on a distinct peninsula between the River Yare and Lake Lothing. The area is characterised by a mix of residential housing, industrial estates, and significant transport infrastructure, including the A47 and the railway line. Its geography is defined by waterways, with the broad expanse of Breydon Water forming its western boundary. The ward includes the suburban communities of Gorleston-on-Sea, which, while a separate parish, falls within this administrative area. The coastline here features a long, straight promenade and a sandy beach, with the River Yare's entrance and the outer harbour's piers being prominent features. A notable local landmark is the Gorleston Pavilion theatre, a venue for entertainment overlooking the North Sea. The area's economy is closely linked to the offshore energy industry and the associated support services located around the harbour.
