The landscape is characterised by its undulating ground and notable rocky outcrops of Pre-Cambrian hornblende. These exposed rocks are among the oldest in England, dating back over 600 million years. The site provides views towards the town and the surrounding Charnwood Forest. It is a local resource for walking and nature study, with clear seasonal changes across its ecosystems.
