About

Melcombe Regis is a densely built coastal ward forming the western half of Weymouth's town centre. Its layout is defined by the curving sweep of Weymouth Bay and the harbour channel of the River Weymouth. The area contains the main retail streets, the historic harbourfront, and the Georgian-era seafront buildings overlooking the sandy beach.

A distinctive feature is the painted clock face on the pavement outside the former post office on St. Mary Street, a local meeting point. The ward includes the peninsula of Nothe Point with its fort and gardens, and the working commercial port around the inner harbour, separate from the tourist-focused areas.
