Nethercourt, Pegwell & Cliffsend

Nethercourt, Pegwell & Cliffsend form a southeastern corner of Thanet, bordered by the River Stour and the English Channel. The area encompasses a mix of residential streets, light industrial estates, and significant open landscapes. Pegwell Bay is a dominant feature, with its large, internationally important saltmarsh and mudflats attracting vast numbers of migratory birds. The Saxon Shore Way long-distance path traces the coastline here, passing the replica Viking longship Hugin, which rests on the clifftop.

Inland, the landscape transitions through the flat, reclaimed fields of the Stour valley. Cliffsend village sits at the junction of major roads leading to Ramsgate, with its historic centre clustered around St. Augustine's Cross. The area is also known for its infrastructure, hosting the Thanet Offshore Wind Farm operations base and the Pegasus Business Park. The chalk cliffs at Pegwell give way to the expansive, often windswept sands of the bay at low tide.
