North Bermondsey

North Bermondsey ward occupies a central slice of the London Borough of Southwark, stretching from the Thames at Bermondsey Wall to the Old Kent Road in the south. The area is defined by major transport corridors, including the railway lines into London Bridge and the busy Jamaica Road. Industrial and residential uses are closely interwoven here, with modern apartment blocks situated alongside older warehouses and light industrial units. The ward contains significant stretches of the Thames Path, offering direct pedestrian access to the riverfront.

A notable feature is the historic network of narrow streets and courtyards around Bermondsey Street, which contrast with the larger-scale post-war housing estates found elsewhere. The area is home to the White Cube gallery on Bermondsey Street, a major contemporary art institution housed in a converted warehouse. Millstream and ornamental lake remnants hint at the area's past, with the historic River Neckinger flowing largely underground. The ward's eastern boundary is marked by the busy thoroughfare of Tower Bridge Road.
