Old Portsmouth & Southsea Common

Old Portsmouth forms a historic quarter at the entrance to Portsmouth Harbour. Its narrow streets, like Broad Street and High Street, are lined with 18th-century buildings and old pubs. The area is dominated by the Square and Round Towers, part of the old defensive fortifications. The Camber, a centuries-old dock, sits within this area, still used by fishing and sailing vessels.

Adjacent to the south lies the open expanse of Southsea Common, a large grassy area separating the city from the seafront. It is bordered by Clarence Pier to the west and the historic Southsea Castle to the east. The common is a recreational space for walking and events, directly facing the Solent. The prominent War Memorial stands at its centre, a focal point for the city.
