Orrell Park

Orrell Park sits in the north of Liverpool and is mainly residential, with rows of terraced houses and pockets of semi-detached streets radiating from local roads. The neighbourhood grew up around the railway and remains served by Orrell Park station on Merseyrail’s Northern Line, a two-platform stop that gives regular services into the city centre. Local parades of shops, takeaway outlets and small businesses line a few streets close to the station, while primary schools, churches and community halls mark the area’s everyday routes and meeting points.

Green spaces and sports pitches lie within walking distance of most homes, and allotments and small yards are common features of older streets. Pubs and social clubs still act as hubs for weekend and evening activity, and there are volunteer groups that run local clean-ups and events. Many houses retain original brickwork and yard patterns from early 20th-century development, which shapes the look of streets when viewed from the station footbridge or the main road through the area.
