Pelham Bridge & South Common

The Pelham Bridge & South Common area sits at the southern edge of Lincoln's city centre, defined by the major road crossing of the River Witham. This is a functional transport corridor, with the bridge providing a key route for traffic moving between the south and the city's core. The immediate surroundings are characterised by commercial premises, retail parks, and residential streets that transition away from the central shopping districts.

To the west lies the open, grassy expanse of South Common, a large area of historic limestone grassland. This public space is crisscrossed by footpaths and used for recreation, offering views back towards the cathedral on the hill. The common is a preserved fragment of the city's older landscape, sitting directly adjacent to the modern traffic flow of the bridge approach.
