Penketh and Cuerdley is a ward on the southern edge of Warrington, bordering the Mersey estuary. It combines suburban housing with semi-rural landscapes, containing the residential areas of Penketh and the more dispersed village of Cuerdley. The ward is defined by transport links, including the A57 and the West Coast Main Line railway. Large stretches of farmland and pockets of woodland characterise its eastern sections.

The area includes the historic Risley Moss, a former peat bog now managed as a local nature reserve with walking trails and bird hides. Industrial history is present at the former Crosfields chemical works site. The ward is also home to the large Fiddlers Ferry Power Station, a landmark now undergoing decommissioning, which has long dominated the skyline near the River Mersey.
