Penkridge South & Gailey

Penkridge South & Gailey is a predominantly rural ward shaped by its transport corridors and agricultural land. The area centres on the historic village of Penkridge, with its market charter dating to the 13th century, while the smaller settlement of Gailey lies to the south. The ward is defined by the A5 and A449 roads, and the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal runs through it, supporting some light industry and leisure boating.

A notable landmark is the Gailey Round House, a circular former canal toll keeper's cottage standing at a major junction. Large tracts of the ward consist of open farmland and scattered farmsteads, with the River Penk flowing through the landscape. The M6 motorway skirts the western edge, and the area includes the Hilton Park services, one of the original motorway service stations opened in the 1960s.
