Pevensey Bay

Pevensey Bay ward encompasses the coastal stretch directly west of Pevensey village, centred around the residential area of Pevensey Bay itself. The settlement is linear, following the B2191 along the shoreline, with housing extending inland across the flat, low-lying marshland. This geography defines the area, which sits within the Pevensey Levels, a large area of reclaimed wetland. The shingle beach is backed by a concrete sea wall, a necessary feature for flood defence given the ward's low elevation.

The economy is mixed, with a focus on local services for residents. The beach and a small harbour provide a base for fishing and leisure activities. A notable structure is the Martello Tower, one in a chain built along the coast during the Napoleonic Wars, which stands as a historic landmark on the seafront. Inland, the landscape is predominantly agricultural, characterised by drainage ditches and grazing pastures on the levels, separating the coastal community from the main village of Pevensey.
