Rural North Fylde

The Rural North Fylde ward encompasses the northern agricultural belt of the Fylde plain. This is a landscape of open, flat farmland primarily given over to arable crops and livestock grazing. Small villages and hamlets, such as Little Singleton and Greenhalgh, are scattered throughout, connected by narrow country lanes. The area is defined by its working agricultural character, with large fields, drainage ditches, and isolated farmsteads shaping the environment.

The western boundary is formed by the undeveloped coastline of the Ribble Estuary, featuring salt marshes and tidal creeks. This is part of the Ribble and Alt Estuaries protected area, significant for overwintering bird populations. Inland, the topography is subtly punctuated by the wooded slopes of Singleton Arboretum, a notable collection of mature trees and specimen planting. The ward's settlement pattern remains distinctly rural, with a clear separation from the more urban coastal towns to the west.
