Sale Central is a residential ward situated in the town of Sale, within the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford. The area is primarily composed of Victorian and Edwardian terraced housing, alongside some inter-war semi-detached properties. Its streets are arranged in a largely grid-like pattern, contributing to a settled, neighbourhood atmosphere. The ward is bordered by the Bridgewater Canal to the north and the railway line to the south, providing clear geographic boundaries.

The local centre is focused around School Road and Cross Street, hosting a range of independent shops, cafes, and essential services. Sale Water Park, a large recreational area with a lake and sports facilities, lies just to the northeast, bordering the ward. A notable community feature is the regular market held at Sale Town Hall, which anchors the central shopping area. Public transport connections are provided by Sale Metrolink station, offering direct tram links to Manchester city centre and Altrincham.
