Skellingthorpe, Witham & Bassingham

Skellingthorpe sits on the western edge of Lincoln, characterised by modern housing estates developed from the late 20th century. Its landscape is largely residential, with the nearby Tritton Road forming a major commercial corridor containing retail parks and supermarkets. The area retains some open farmland to the north, providing a contrast to its suburban layout. The village is directly connected to the city, yet maintains its own distinct community identity and local amenities.

To the south, the villages of Witham and Bassingham are situated within the wider Witham valley farmlands. These are more traditional agricultural settlements with historic cores, centred around parish churches. The area is defined by the River Witham and its associated drainage channels, which influence the surrounding flat, productive fields. Bassingham is notable for its annual village show, a long-standing local event. The A46 trunk road runs nearby, linking these communities to Newark and Lincoln.
