South Reddish & Heaton Norris

South Reddish sits on the north side of the Reddish valley and includes Reddish Vale Country Park, with river meanders, wooded slopes and a network of paths that follow the River Tame. The area mixes terraces from the late 19th and early 20th centuries with pockets of interwar housing and former mill sites now used for light industry or housing. Reddish South railway station serves local services and links the neighbourhood to nearby centres. Small commercial parades and community centres serve day-to-day needs, while allotments and green corridors thread between residential streets.

Heaton Norris occupies the ridge and slopes immediately east of the valley and is centred on Heaton Norris Park, with sports pitches and a pavilion. A defining sight in the area is the long brick railway viaduct with its sequence of arches that carries trains across the valley; the viaduct is visible from several streets and from parkland. Local lanes contain a mix of shops, churches and civic buildings that reflect the area’s 19th- and 20th-century growth, and community groups run regular events in the parks and halls.
