Standish North

Standish North is an electoral ward in the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan, covering the northern part of the Standish settlement. The area combines residential streets with a small town centre where local shops, cafés and services serve nearby neighbourhoods. Wigan Road (A49) runs through the town and provides the main route for buses and cars; the ward also has direct connections onto the local road network for journeys into Wigan and beyond. Local primary schools, a healthcare centre and community halls form the core of everyday life for many residents.

Open land and footpaths sit at the edges of the ward, with allotments and small woodland pockets visible from several streets. All Saints’ parish church occupies a central site and its stone tower is a familiar sight around the town centre. Standish North functions as a settled residential ward with local facilities and walking routes that link housing areas to shops, schools and green spaces.
