Steventon & the Hanneys

The Steventon & the Hanneys ward encompasses the village of Steventon and the three Hanney settlements—East, West, and South—within the Vale of White Horse. The area is characterised by rural landscapes, farmland, and residential communities connected by narrow country lanes. Steventon lies just south of the A34, with its historic core centred around the church and village green. The Hanneys are situated to the northeast, forming a distinct cluster amid the flat, agricultural terrain typical of this part of Oxfordshire.

Local governance is managed through separate parish councils, with community life focused on village halls, pubs, and primary schools. The area retains a strong agricultural presence, with working farms integrated into the settlements. A notable local feature is the annual Steventon Village Day, which includes a traditional procession and events on the recreation ground. Transport links are primarily road-based, with the railway station at Didcot Parkway providing the main rail connection for commuters.
