Stockmoor & North Petherton

The area centres on the small settlement of Stockmoor, located just north of the larger town of North Petherton. It is a primarily residential and agricultural landscape positioned between the Quantock Hills and the Somerset Levels. The M5 motorway runs directly through the area, providing a major transport link but also defining its physical character. Much of the surrounding land consists of working farms and fields, with a mix of older rural properties and more modern housing developments.

North Petherton itself is a historic market town with a notable church spire visible across the flatlands. The local economy includes several light industrial and business parks situated near the motorway junctions. A specific local tradition is the annual North Petherton Carnival, a major illuminated procession that is part of the wider West Country circuit. The River Parrett flows to the east, and the area's drainage ditches, or rhynes, are characteristic of the low-lying Somerset landscape.
