Street Village

The Street Village area lies on the Polden Hills, adjacent to the Somerset Levels. Its landscape is largely defined by flat, drained moorland used for agriculture, with willow cultivation and peat extraction historically significant. The village itself developed along a single main thoroughfare, giving the area its name. Local architecture includes buildings constructed from the distinctive Blue Lias limestone.

The area is closely associated with the Clarks shoe company, whose original factory and model village for workers remain central features. Economic activity includes light industry, retail at the Clarks Village outlet, and farming. Glastonbury Tor is visible to the north, and the area provides access to the wetlands of the Avalon Marshes, known for wildlife reserves and the annual willow harvest.
