Thetford Central & East forms the core of Thetford within Breckland, centred on the town high street, municipal buildings and a compact market area. At Castle Hill the earthwork of the Norman motte rises above surrounding streets; that motte is one of the largest surviving examples in England and shapes the street pattern immediately around it.
