Torrisholme

Torrisholme is a residential area situated directly south of Lancaster's city centre, forming a key part of the city's southern urban extension. The ward is primarily characterised by its housing, ranging from interwar semis to more modern developments, with local shops and services clustered along its main thoroughfares. It is bordered by the River Lune to the west and contains significant green corridors like the Lancaster Canal, which runs through the area, and the Ryelands Park.

A notable local landmark is the Ashton Memorial, visible from parts of the ward, situated in Williamson Park which lies just to the east. The area is largely self-contained with several primary schools and community facilities. Its eastern boundary is defined by the railway line, which connects it to Morecambe, emphasising its position within this coastal conurbation.
