Trowbridge East

The eastern side of Trowbridge covers a stretch of residential streets, local shops and light industry that slopes toward the River Biss. Victorian terraces built for mill workers sit alongside later suburban estates, with a belt of playing fields, allotments and community halls serving local neighbourhoods. Frome Road and the A361 provide the main vehicle routes eastbound, while Trowbridge railway station on the town’s eastern edge offers regular trains to Bath and Bristol, making the area a commuter corridor as well as a place for everyday services.

Community life here centres on a handful of primary schools, sports clubs and small business parks. A network of footpaths follows the Biss and links greenspaces and sports pitches, used daily by dog walkers and cyclists. Local initiatives have focused on adapting older buildings and improving links to the town centre, keeping everyday facilities close at hand while leaving the river corridor and playing fields as commonly used outdoor spaces.
