About

Westham North and Radipole form a largely residential district on the western edge of Weymouth. The area is characterised by post-war housing estates, local shops, and schools, providing a functional base for the town. It sits on the northern side of the busy Dorchester Road, which serves as a major route in and out of the centre.

The defining feature is the proximity to Radipole Lake, a large reedbed and nature reserve managed by the RSPB. This wetland, which is a former estuary, extends right into the urban area, with trails leading from housing directly into the habitats of bearded tits and marsh harriers. The lake connects to Weymouth Harbour via a narrow channel under a road bridge.
