Wingerworth & Holymoorside

Wingerworth and Holymoorside are neighbouring civil parishes in North East Derbyshire, set on the western side of the Chesterfield area. The landscape alternates between village streets, farmed fields and small woods. Near Wingerworth the ground still shows the layout of an 18th-century country estate, with parkland and a surviving ornamental pond close to the village core. A network of public footpaths and bridleways crosses the parish and climbs toward higher ground on the edge of the Peak District, used by walkers and riders year round.

The two villages share local services and community life: primary schools, village halls, pubs, sports clubs and small shops provide most day-to-day needs, and parish councils manage local planning and green-space matters. Conservation areas preserve parts of the older village centres, and volunteer groups maintain hedgerows, play areas and allotments. Regular bus links and short road journeys connect residents to wider services while keeping day-to-day life centred on local streets and green lanes.
