Winsford Gravel

Winsford Gravel ward encompasses the eastern and northern residential suburbs of the town of Winsford, primarily consisting of housing estates built from the mid-20th century onwards. The area is largely residential, with a mix of property types and several local shopping parades serving the community. The ward is bordered by the River Weaver to the west and contains significant areas of green space, including the playing fields of Winsford Academy and the informal recreation grounds along the river valley.

A notable feature is the presence of the Winsford Rock Salt Mine, which lies deep beneath the area. This active mine, one of the largest of its kind in the UK, is a major local employer and has historically defined the town's economy. The ward's landscape is otherwise characterised by its proximity to the Weaver's floodplain, with the Winsford Flash—a large body of water formed by historical subsidence—situated just beyond its western boundary.
