About

Woodburn ward covers a largely rural expanse in the northern part of Mid and East Antrim, characterised by rolling green hills and agricultural land. The area includes the residential neighbourhoods around the Woodburn reservoir and the village of Ballycarry, one of Ulster's oldest planned settlements. The landscape is defined by the Waterworks Road and the presence of several small streams feeding into the catchment area.

A notable feature is the Woodburn Forest, which surrounds the reservoirs providing water to Carrickfergus and parts of Belfast. The area's history is marked by early textile mills, with the remnants of the 19th-century Woodburn Mill still evident. The ward maintains a quiet, community-focused atmosphere, with local life centred around its churches, primary school, and village hall.
