Aigburth & Grassendale

Aigburth and Grassendale sit on the south side of Liverpool between the city and the River Mersey. The area includes Lark Lane, a stretch of independent shops, cafés and venues running beside Sefton Park to the north, and the riverside walkway of Otterspool Promenade to the west. Aigburth railway station and St Michaels station provide regular Merseyrail links into the city and to Southport. The Palm House in Sefton Park, a 19th-century glass and iron conservatory, is set within the parkland immediately north of Aigburth.

Grassendale contains the Grassendale Park estate with its sequence of private roads and stone gate pillars dating to the Victorian development of the suburb. Housing ranges from terraced streets and post-war houses to larger villas set back from tree-lined avenues. Local cafés, a parish church, and community centres host regular markets and events; sports clubs use pitches in nearby parks and along the river. The mix of residential streets, park access and a continuous riverside route gives the area a clear local focus while keeping links to Liverpool city centre.
