The tracker compares the Bank of England Bank Rate with representative UK mortgage rates over time. It shows the latest published values and how borrowing costs have moved alongside monetary policy.
The fixed-rate series show quoted 2-, 3- and 5-year mortgage rates at 75% loan-to-value. Historical chart data starts on 1 January 1996.
Data comes from the Bank of England Interactive Statistical Database. Mortgage series are monthly while Bank Rate is daily, so publication dates differ.
The chart shows market indicators. A lender’s quote will depend on its criteria, the borrower’s deposit and circumstances, fees, and the property.
