The area is largely residential, with a mixture of interwar terraces, postwar housing and newer infill developments lining streets that run down to the seafront. A small local centre along Aldwick Road contains shops, cafés, a primary school and a parish church, serving day‑to‑day needs. Local lanes give access to playing fields, allotments and pockets of open space that break the housing pattern.

The coast here is Aldwick Bay, where a continuous promenade runs above a shingle and sand beach.
