Allerton

Allerton is a suburb in south Liverpool made up mainly of residential streets with terraces and larger houses dating from the 19th and early 20th centuries. The neighbourhood is centred on Allerton Road, a long high street of independent shops, cafés and restaurants that serves local everyday needs. There are primary schools, community centres and a library along the main roads, and regular bus routes link the area with the city centre. Small commercial clusters and local services give the area a clear neighbourhood focus rather than a single commercial core.

Green space is anchored by Calderstones Park within Allerton; the park has lawns, formal gardens, a play area and sports facilities, and it also preserves the Calder Stones, a group of Late Neolithic sandstone blocks kept in a shelter near the park house. The park hosts local events and informal sport, while tree-lined streets and pocket parks are woven through the residential grid. Housing, shops and public amenities combine to make Allerton a primarily residential quarter with active local facilities.
