Anchorage Park & Copnor

Copnor sits on the eastern side of Portsea Island in Portsmouth and is primarily a residential district. Anchorage Park lies within the neighbourhood and provides open grass, a children's play area and marked football pitches used by local junior sides at weekends. A tree-lined pedestrian route runs through the park and links into the surrounding streets, making the green space a regular route for school runs and short walks.

The housing stock around Copnor and Anchorage Park is largely terraces and semi-detached homes built around the turn of the 20th century for workers at the naval dockyard and local industries. Copnor Road forms the main shopping parade with a mix of independent shops, takeaways and a few small civic services, and bus routes run from there into the city centre. Short rear lanes and alleyways provide garden and bin access behind the terraces, a feature that shapes movement through the area and the rhythm of the streets.
