Bathwick

Bathwick ward lies on the eastern bank of the River Avon, directly across from Bath's historic city centre. The area encompasses a mix of residential streets, university buildings belonging to the University of Bath, and the steep, wooded slopes that rise towards Bathampton Down. Its topography creates a distinct separation from the central commercial zones, giving it a quieter, more village-like atmosphere despite its proximity to the city.

A notable feature is the presence of the Kennet and Avon Canal, which runs through the ward alongside the river. The canal towpath provides a popular walking and cycling route. The ward also includes the Bathwick Boat Station, a base for narrowboats, and the sprawling green space of Sydney Gardens, one of the last remaining eighteenth-century pleasure gardens in the country.
