About

Beeston is a town in the Borough of Broxtowe, Nottinghamshire, about three miles southwest of Nottingham city centre. The town expanded in the 19th century around textile and lace manufacturing; former mill buildings now house workshops, homes and small firms, and streets of Victorian terraces remain a common housing form. Beeston railway station offers regular services to Nottingham and Derby, while Chilwell Road and High Road carry local traffic and shopping activity through the centre.

The centre combines independent shops, cafes and national retailers, with pubs and restaurants active in the evenings. Community facilities include a leisure centre, library and several green spaces, and frequent bus services link the town to surrounding suburbs. Beeston Hockey Club plays at the local hockey centre and fields teams in national competitions, a long-standing point of local sporting focus. The town functions as a residential and commercial hub with direct rail and road connections into Nottingham.
