About

Belfairs is a suburb on the western edge of Southend-on-Sea, set on a ridge above the Thames Estuary. The area is mostly residential, with a mix of inter-war and post-war housing, local shops and a primary school. Bus routes run toward Southend city centre and Westcliff station, and some streets look south across the estuary on clear days. The neighbourhood footprint is defined by Belfairs Park to the east and by suburban roads to the west, making the park a central point for local movement and leisure.

Belfairs Park and Country Park occupy a large portion of the neighbourhood, combining open grass, woodland and a golf course. A network of waymarked paths crosses the reserve and links to smaller greens and playgrounds; volunteers maintain sections of the woodland. The presence of broad, older trees along several park rides makes the area a common choice for walkers and birdwatchers, and local clubs use the open spaces for informal sport. Community groups organise seasonal events and local schools use the park for outdoor lessons.
