Bideford North

Bideford North ward encompasses the residential neighbourhoods on the northern side of the River Torridge, directly opposite the historic port town centre. The area is characterised by post-war housing estates and modern developments, with streets laid out on the rising ground that provides views back across the river to Bideford. Local amenities include several schools, community centres, and convenience retail, serving the daily needs of its residents.

A significant feature is the presence of the Royal Marines Base Chivenor on its northern boundary, a major local employer with a distinct presence. The landscape transitions towards the Taw-Torridge estuary, with areas of open farmland and the Bideford Long Bridge connecting the ward to the southern side of the river. This creates a mix of suburban living with immediate access to estuary vistas and coastal paths.
