Blacon South

Blacon South sits on the northern edge of Chester within the Cheshire West and Chester council area. Primarily a residential suburb, much of the housing was built as council stock after the Second World War and now includes a mix of tenures. The ward contains local shopping parades, primary schools, a health centre and community groups that provide youth and adult services. Bus routes link the area with Chester city centre and neighbouring suburbs, making the city accessible without a car.

Green space forms a strong part of the local layout: Caldy Brook runs along the eastern edge and creates a linear nature corridor that walkers use to reach floodplain meadows and the River Dee beyond. There are community-run projects and a neighbourhood trust that coordinate volunteering, allotments and events from a community hub. Sports pitches and small parks sit within residential streets, and recent local planning has focused on improving play facilities and footpath connections rather than large-scale redevelopment.
