Brightlingsea & Point Clear

Brightlingsea and Point Clear are located on the eastern edge of Tendring, along the Colne Estuary. The area is known for its coastal setting, with a mix of marshes, creeks, and open water. Brightlingsea has a small harbour and a historic waterfront, while Point Clear is quieter, with a shingle beach and views across to Mersea Island. The landscape is largely flat, with walking and cycling routes along the sea wall.

The area has a mix of residential and maritime activity, with boatyards and sailing clubs. Brightlingsea retains some traditional fishing and boat-building, while Point Clear is more focused on leisure and holiday homes. The nearby Alresford Creek and St Osyth marshes provide habitats for wildlife, particularly wading birds. Public transport links are limited, with most travel relying on roads.
