Across the water, Point Clear is a coastal settlement on a narrow peninsula facing the open sea. It is dominated by a large static caravan park and a shingle beach. The area's Martello Tower, one of many built against Napoleonic invasion, now functions as a distinctive private residence overlooking the estuary mouth.
