Brixham Town is a working fishing port, with trawlers and fish market activity centred around the inner harbour. The area slopes steeply from the harbour up narrow, winding streets lined with traditional cottages. The replica of Sir Francis Drake's ship, the *Golden Hind*, is a permanent fixture moored along the quayside.

The outer harbour provides shelter for a large leisure marina and the town's lifeboat station. A breakwater extends from the southern side, offering views back across Torbay. The main shopping and dining facilities are concentrated along the harbour front and the adjacent Fore Street.
