Bushey Central

The central area of Bushey sits along the High Street where shops, cafés, pubs and small offices cluster around the railway station and a handful of municipal buildings. Streets are laid out from the station toward the green space of Bushey Grove Park, and bus routes serve the centre with regular connections to London and nearby towns. A short walk from the shopping parade takes you past mid-19th to early-20th century houses and community facilities, including the local library and health services, which act as focal points for daily life in the town.

Bushey’s town centre also carries a strong artistic legacy. In the late 19th century Hubert von Herkomer established a school here and his name remains visible in the museum and in surviving buildings such as the ornate house he commissioned, Lululaund. The Bushey Museum and Art Gallery preserves local archives and paintings that reflect that history, and small plaques and markers around the centre note former studios and workshops, linking the streets and parks to the town’s cultural past.
