About

Caddington and Slip End lie on the southern edge of Central Bedfordshire, immediately east of Dunstable and south of Luton. The parish area covers the villages of Caddington and Slip End and nearby hamlets such as Pepperstock and Woodside. The ground falls away from the chalk scarp toward the Vale, so fields and small woodlands sit beside residential streets. The A5 (Watling Street) and a network of local roads link the settlements to surrounding towns and the M1 corridor, while footpaths run from the village cores into adjoining farmland.

Community life centres on village halls, churches, a primary school, pubs, allotments and playing fields, with local councils and volunteers running clubs and maintenance projects. A particular local landmark is Caddington Hill, a steep lane used by walkers and cyclists and visible on many local routes. Older field boundaries and a few disused pits record past extraction and farming patterns, and many residents travel to Luton for larger shops and rail services.
