Cheylesmore is a residential ward located directly south of Coventry city centre, bounded by the A45 to the north. The area is characterised by a mix of interwar and post-war housing estates, with local shopping parades serving the community. Its geography includes the open green space of Quinton Park and the historic Quinton Pool, a former medieval fishpond.

The ward contains the site of the former Cheylesmore Manor, a medieval royal residence, with only the gatehouse remaining on New Union Street.
