About

Church is a village and electoral ward in the borough of Hyndburn, in east Lancashire. The area takes its name from the parish church at its centre and expanded in the 19th century as a textile-mill settlement. Several red-brick mill buildings and rows of terraced houses remain, with some former works now used for housing and small businesses. Rail access is provided at Church and Oswaldtwistle station on the East Lancashire Line, which sits close to the village centre and is a regular point of arrival and departure for local journeys.

Everyday life in Church revolves around a compact high street, a primary school, a community centre and local sports clubs. Public green spaces sit alongside residential streets, and the Pennine foothills form part of the surrounding landscape. The mix of industrial remnants and parish-centre layout gives the area a clear sense of history while remaining connected by road and rail to the wider Hyndburn borough.
